Clubs & Activities

Our goal is to offer a range of clubs and activities that help students develop leadership skills, explore their interests and connect with others. These experiences encourage responsibility, initiative and active involvement in the school community.

Cheer

The cheerleading squad consists of 12 students from grades 4 & 5 that are chosen through a try-out process. Cheerleaders cheer at basketball games, both home and away.

Choir

The Harrison Hill choir is made up of students in grades 4 & 5 who choose to meet during their recess time once a week. Students prepare songs to be performed at the winter and spring concerts.

Running Club

Running club is made up of students in grades 1-5. The running club is similar to cross country in that we practice endurance runs and compete on an open terrain course at Wayne High School. The goal is to inspire children to become future runners in the sport.

Math Bowl

Math Bowl is a team made up of 4th and 5th grade students that enjoy math and problem solving. We learn how to solve upper elementary and middle school math problems. Then we compete against teams across the state of Indiana.

Robotics

A competitive team that students in grades 3-5 can try-out for. The team builds and programs robots to compete against other elementary schools. Besides programming and building the robots, the team also focuses on teamwork, cooperation, problem solving and creativity.

Science Fair

Each year, the Science Fair Committee organizes the school-wide event, encouraging all students—especially in grades 4 & 5 to participate. The committee provides project resources, coordinates judges and ensures each student has a chance to explain their work. Winners and participants receive ribbons and certificates.

Spell Bowl

Each fall, students in grades 4 & 5 study over 500 words to compete in the statewide Spell Bowl, hosted by the Indiana Association of School Principals. Harrison Hill’s team regularly earns top regional honors, including the highest score in northeast Indiana in 2018. Go Hawks!

Tech Club

The Harrison Hill Technology Club is comprised of grade 5 students. Throughout the year, club members have the opportunity to explore and interact with various software programs such as:

  • Tinkercad/Roboprint (3D Printing)
  • Scratch (Coding)
  • Code.org (Coding)
  • Spheros Bolts (Programing Robots)
  • Ozobots (Programing Robots)
  • Screencastify (Screen recording and video editing)

Girls on the Run

Girls in grades 3-5 meet twice a week in the spring. The goal is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. They run a 5k in the spring as a culminating activity.

Modern Band

Open to students in grades 3-5, Modern Band is an extracurricular music group that performs rock, pop, Latin, R&B and more using instruments like guitar, piano, drums, and bass. Students collaborate to arrange popular songs and perform at the winter concert, spring concert and Rockfest.
